Blood Donation Camp held, 150 Units Collected

Place M, July 18: The members of X, a youth club in association with Y, a reputed NGO organized a blood donation camp at the club premises at ward Number 1 of ABC municipality yesterday. Widespread prevalence of vector borne diseases in the municipality has resulted in the blood banks drying up necessitating the organization of such a camp. The officials from the district hospital and the local blood bank including two doctors were present to facilitate and oversee the camp. The Sub Divisional Officer graced the camp as the Chief Guest whilst the Chairperson of the Municipality was a special guest. The guests inaugurated the camp by voluntarily donating blood amidst much cheer and jubilations from the crowd present. In his speech, the Chief Guest appreciated the endeavour of the club and also urged the younger generation in the locality to come forth for more such noble causes. The Chairperson of the municipality also lauded the initiative and declared that each blood donor will be presented with a beautiful memento as a token of appreciation. Besides, every blood donor was given a certificate, a packet of light meal and a blood coupon. The organizers informed this correspondent that a total of 150 units of blood was collected. The residents of the locality were extremely happy to see such efforts from the local youth.“ Seeing our younger generation taking such steps to help those in need is such a delight!”, expressed visibly happy Mr. Z, an octogenarian resident of the locality.
