‘A Day for Nature’- A Symposium with Purpose
Place DEF, July 22: Amidst much funfair the XYZ college at DEF recently organized a symposium titled ‘A Day for Nature’ to raise awareness about the ecosystem we live in. The list of eminent guests included Mr. X, the chairperson of the local municipality, Ms. Y, a renowned environment activist, Mr Z whose NGO recently came in news for novel initiatives to protect the environment.
The symposium was started off by lighting the sacred lamp by the principal of the college along with the dignitaries present. This was followed by a welcome speech by the President of the Governing body of the college. Following that the keynote speakers delivered their valuable speeches on a plethora of subjects like global warming, climate change, afforestation, water crisis, green house gases etc. Student representatives also participated in group discussions, debates and a quiz on environment.
It was resolved that a plantation programme will be carried out at the locality and its vicinity by the college along with the civil society. A team of Green Volunteers will be formed to address any emergency issue concerning nature or to mitigate any damage caused thereby. An awareness rally was also planned. Finally, the eventful symposium concluded with vote of thanks by the General Secretary of the Students’ Union.
