Sir,
This is humbly submitted before you that we, the residents of the XYZ municipality are in utter distress because of indiscriminate disposal of garbage across the city. It is rather unfortunate that even though there are specified civic norms and stipulated locations for such disposal, people are reluctant to adhere to such norms. Lack of civic sense of the citizens has reached such a nadir that the cleanliness of this town has witnessed a new low. Even though door-to-door collection of waste and scientific solid waste management system are in place, it appears that people are not willing to take benefits of such facilities. As an aftermath, the town has lost its once pristine cleanliness and is now ranked among one of the dirtiest municipalities in the state. There has been unprecedented prevalence of several diseases owing to unclean and unhygienic living conditions all over the town as well.
In this regard, as a responsible citizen of this town, I urge the civic authority to come up with some steps to combat this menace. Installation of CCTV cameras across the city to identify the offenders and imposition of fines thereafter is one proven solution to this problem. Spreading awareness measures especially through social media can be effective, too. Encouraging the public to Reduce-Reuse and Recycle (RRR) and conferring awards for those who set shining examples in this may help the cause, too. Use of GPS technology-based apps like the Swachh App may also be a wonderful solution to this problem.
Finally, this town is our pride and it is our collective responsibility to bring back its past glory as one of the attractive tourist destinations of the state. Only blaming the civic body for the nuisance is not going to take us anywhere. Rather, a sense of cooperation among us all may lead us to what we tend to achieve. Looking forward to witness your innovative ideas being implemented to reach our goal.
